About the LAP-BAND^® System

The LAP-BAND^® System is a safe and effective method of weight loss for morbidly obese patients. An adjustable gastric band is placed around the stomach and filled with saline. This reduces food intake by forming a small gastric pouch and stoma. Surgery is performed laparoscopically without permanently altering the digestive system.

Becoming Certified

Allergan offers a wide variety of LAP-BAND^® System educational and training workshops so you can become an expert. You will learn how to identify ideal candidates for surgery and once you have been proctored for two procedures you will be able to perform LAP-BAND^® System surgery on your own.

LAP-BAND TOTAL CARE^TM

As a surgeon, your involvement with the LAP-BAND^® System extends beyond the procedure itself and Allergan is there to support you with the LAP-BAND TOTAL CARE™ program. Many educational resources and referral services are available to help you prepare your patients for the life changes that will occur once they have committed to LAP-BAND^® System surgery. From handling pre-operative expectations to managing patient aftercare Allergan is there to help you help your patients so that they will have the best chance of achieving their weight-loss goals. You will be kept up-to-date on the latest developments in the LAP-BAND^® System. Following surgery you will continue to see your patients for check-ups and band adjustments.
