Combining multiple surgical contouring procedures at once after massive weight-loss is driven by patients who wish to correct as many areas as possible in one operation. Safer anesthetics, newer techniques, and multiple surgeons operating as a team mean that combining procedures can be done more safely.

Plastic surgery after massive weight loss is safe and efficacious if performed on carefully screened and selected patients.³ The body self-consciousness (including sexual self-consciousness) that develops after bariatric surgery improves further following plastic surgery.⁴ Patients who have undergone body recontouring surgery after massive weight loss report improved satisfaction with regard to psyche, appearance, self-confidence, and vitality.⁵
