Attending a Workshop

Educational workshops are an important part of Allergan's commitment to providing high-quality, healthier, and less traumatic long-term weight-loss treatment solutions to the health care insurer, to the surgeon and medical team trained to use the LAP-BAND AP^® System, and to the patient.

LAP-BAND AP^® System Surgeon Training Workshops include lectures, discussion, participatory labs, live or videotaped surgery demonstration, and a manual. A wide array of topics relevant to LAP-BAND AP^® System surgery and patient care are offered, including:

• Patient Selection Criteria — includes ASMBS guidelines on patient selection and joint ASMBS/SAGES guidelines on surgical treatment of morbid obesity
• Surgical Preparation — including equipment, instrumentation, band preparation
• Surgical Procedure — performed by highly experienced surgeons with experience in LAP-BAND AP^® System procedures-live or videotaped procedure
• Early Post-op Management
• Band Adjustment Considerations
• Long-term Dietary and Behavioral Support — multidisciplinary team or contracted referral source for LAP-BAND AP^® System patient follow-up
• Long-term Complication Recognition, Assessment and Management
• Practice of Access Port Adjustment — targeting and access
• Results with the LAP-BAND AP^® System
